Isengard part 10: Dunlanding warriors

I continued the Dunland army and painted up the core warriors. I love these metal models and GW did a great job in designing them. Next up: Huscarls and heroes!

Isengard part 9: Dunland

A new year, a new army.
After painting Isengard last year I already had made up my mind that a full dunlanding force would be up next. Last year I made some small progress and painted up the crebain and a handfull of wildmen. This year I would be tackling the warriors. I made a great start in january and painted up a big chunk of the core troops. I started with some two handers and archers:

Last models of 2020: Bill the pony and a campfire

I painted up a few random bits laying around the painting desk. An epic Bill the pony and the campfire from the three trolls set.

2020: Another yearly overview

And 2020 finally came to a close. What a year!

A strange year for sure. A year without any social contact apart from my family. Not having friends around, no parties, not playing games, no Ardacon, no tournaments in general.

But still an interesting year. I finished the renovations around the house, celebrated my sons first birthday and my wife got pregnant again. Another tiny hobbit will join us soon.

But time to see if I realised my hobby goals. As every year the goal is to:

  • Paint more lotr models than I buy
  • Buy more lotr models than Games workshop releases.
  • Paint at least 100 models

In total I painted 253 lotr models, around 70 more then in 2019. An absolute blast! I really nailed that objective

I have 2636 models in my collection and 1748 of them are painted. I'm only 1 model off a complete collection. Stupid ninja Thranduil :D

In total I bought 131 new models and only need one more. So I smashed all my targets for 2020.

2021 here I come!

Rangers of Ithilien

I bought the new ranger heroes and decided to paint them up straight away. Meanwhile I had still a bunch of the old metal rangers lying around so I also finished them.
Another charming batch of models to add to the painted collection.

I checked it out, I have al the heroes, 6 metals and 24 plastic rangers.
I probably will pick up another warband of warriors to play the legendary legion.

Scouring of the Shire Part XII: More Ruffians

We needed more Ruffian warriors for our scouring in the Shire campaign so I just did that. I painted up another complete warband and added Harry Goat.
Lovely models and a joy to paint. The old scouring of the Shire campaign really was at the peak of this hobby. I'm so glad they added more models to the range and revisited the Shire.

I call this project done (for now)! Mayby, just mayby I will start a Ruffian army somewhere in the far future ;).

Corsairs (Part VI)

Last year I played a few games with my Corsair army. I realised I needed more warriors to try some different army builds. A few months ago I managed to pick up some cheap extra warriors. So I decided it was time to paint them up.

Another army ready to play after the lockdown!

The three trolls

"So there I was at the mercy of three monstrous trolls. And they were all arguing amongst themselves about how they were going to cook us. Whether it be turned on a spit or whether they should sit on us one by one and squash us into jelly. They spent so much time arguing the witherto's and whyfor's that the sun's first light cracked open over the top of the trees... Poof! And turned them all into stone!" - Bilbo, The Hobbit
