Dwalin, Battle of the five armies

I painted up my warband of Goblin mercenaries. Normally I love painting forgeworld models but these are terrible. I don't know what is wrong with them but they aren't digitally sculpted for sure. They feel like bad failcast.

A pluspoint for them, they are really good in game. I played a few times with my goblin town and they are an excellent edition to the army and give them some mobility

I painted up the new three hunter models. Lovely casts, a joy to paint!

I'm really fond of the new models, keep them coming.

Azog and Thorin

I decided to treat myself and paint something completely different. Azog and Thorin on ice. Lovely forgeworld models. One of the next project in the painting queue will be a warband of goblin mercenaries. So Azogs legion will be lurking at the horizon ;).

I also finished the last Morannon orcs. It was the last batch so Gothmogs legion is ready for battle!

Cleaning up the desk

 I had some more models lying around at my paintig desk for a while now. Decided to paint them up first. I started with a lovely Saruman I recently bought:

Next up some more Morannon orcs. Afther them I only need to paint another batch of six and the army is ready!

A little side project

As a little side project I painted up my Tolkien model. I won him at a recent tournament.
He will make a nice objective marker.

Project Weathertop

The last few weeks were a rollercoaster ride. They past in a blink of an eye but they were full of hobby goodness. First I attended Ardacon with some friends and got a really good result.

In doubles we won two games and drawed one. Good for the 16th place overall. On the grand tournament things even went better for me. After the first day I had four wins. So I started the last day unbeaten. I won my fifth game and had still one game left. We were with six left unbeaten, so winning it would grand a podium place.

In a tight last match I lost so ended up on the 20th place overall. Not a bad result on 222 players.

Already looking forward to next year!

Last week we had our very own local tournament for the Flemish Hobbit League. For the very first time we sold out with 18 attendees. Middle Earth SBG is very much alive!

I even managed to paint up my weathertop scenery piece and some twighlight ringwraiths:

Corsairs and Mordor

With the made to orders I finally managed to obtain some Morgul Stalkers. For some reason I always liked the models but never bought them. And when they went oop, they were always so expensive. But things can change.

I painted them up and they will see battle real soon!

I also made some more progress on my Corsair army. Last tournament held in Turnhout was a special one. You didn't had to bring an army. They were provided and randomised to the attending players. I got a Corsair army! I even managed to win the tournament.

First one this year ;).

Gandalf the White and Pippin

I painted up my Gandalf the White model. I have to say it was the most difficult model to paint ever. So many shades of white! But I really like the result.

A return to Middle Earth

I have been busy the last few weeks. I had one of the most beautiful experiences in my life, the birth of my firstborn son, Robrecht.

It took up most of my time and after finally finishing the afrikakorps I'm ready to return to Middle Earth.

I started with a bunch of new purchases and reordering the cabinets.

I managed to buy a few oop models that I still needed. By now, only 44 models remain and I have the complete collection!

I even obtained the rare Weathertop model:

The last part of the Afrikakorps army. I finished the last panzers, a platoon of 3 Pzkw IV.

And some Flak guns. The perfect anti aircraft and anti tank guns in the midwar range. I really like them. They dominate the table :D.
