Vallejo undercoat

As a sequel of Little review: white undercoat, I'm here going to let you know my experience with Vallejo Undercoat. In that review I wrote I wanted to test the Vallejo undercoat.

I bought the white, grey and black primer:

I'm very happy with these primers and there're from now my number ones. I find I've a little more control then the Citadel ones.

The ruins of Arnor (part three), some heroes and more spectres

A while ago Corvus miniatures gave a painting class. I brought some hobbits to practise. I finally managed to paint them up completely. I figured I also needed to paint Aragorn to joint the weathertop version of the hobbits and I needed Aragorn for the ruins of Arnor! This is the result:

The fall of Arnor (part two)

I made some more progress on my fall of Arnor project. I first painted some barrow wights. Lovely models and a real joy to paint.

Moria

This month I kept painting in the Moria theme. First, I painted my new Gundabad blackshields. It came in the old finecast, and it was a mess. Little bubbles everywhere and the spears were terribly bent. I complained and got another blister of Gundabads at the same quality.

So now I had 8 models, with only three decent casts. But I had 8 models, so I stopped complaining :-D and decided to try fixing them all. Some hot water was enough to bent the spears back in place and I used liquid green stuff to fix most of the bubbles in the models. Only some helmets are clearly still damaged, but I'm happy with the result.

Elrond (ft & mtd)

I finished painting my elrond today. I will use him as a leader for my rivendell knights. I didn't start on the base yet because I will do it together with lindir, elladan and elrohir. I think the bright blue doesn't suit him very well, but he'll have to endure it as he has to fit in with the rivendell knights.

Rivendell knights finished

Last weekend I finished my rivendell knights. I still need to paint some banners, dead guys, dismounts, heroes,... But the core of the army is finished: 24 rivendell knights. I used an airbrush for the blue capes and the horse skin. The rest was done with a standard brush. I tried to use water effects for the first time and I was satisfied after a few tries. I used a few layers standard water effects and afterwards transparant silicone to get some structure/waves/splashes.
